Sandra Burshell
Statement
Painting figures just happened. After a 20-year hiatus, my interiors became populated. Maybe it was my need to connect with people post-Katrina. The interiors felt empty and did not express my optimism for New Orleans's future. The "Big Easy" life here is special and it is the people who make the difference.
For me, the qualities of light, shadow, and composition are analogous to the human emotions of life's vicissitudes.
